Word count: 1704 words.
If you had to sum up your week, you would describe Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday as pure hell and torture. No tutoring which meant no sneaking to the dockside with Montgomery and no kisses or touches. Just shy glances exchanged from across the cafeteria and brief words here and there during the few classes you had in common.
Even when you were sitting with your friends, your eyes searched for him and when you finally found him, looking at you with a grin, you blushed, smiled, and looked away, dragging your attention back to whatever Sheri, Jessica, or Jeff was saying to you. And of course, Tony noticed it. Again. He was paying a shit ton of attention to both of you from afar. He noticed the way you smiled, the way your eyes lit up when you got a text that couldn’t be from anyone but Montgomery. Tony remembered when you were reluctant and scared of the simple thought of being with him and couldn’t help but laugh in the middle of English History class, students turning around to look at him. He also noticed how Montgomery stayed away from fights and troubles, the many girls he pushed away even when they insisted.
You changed him.
It was just a week but you changed him. You didn’t notice it until Tony made you look at him when he walked in the halls and helped Tyler gather his books that were on the floor. Usually, he would make things worse for Liberty’s photographer but he didn’t. He gave him a light tap on the shoulder and walked to his locker, not far from yours. “A week, (Y/N). Just a week made things different.” Tony said in a low voice before he walked away so you could talk to him.
“You ready for the game tomorrow?” You asked when he rested his back against the locker right next to yours.
“I’d rather have my tutoring lesson than this game.” He grinned and made you smile. “Are you coming to Bryce’s party after it?”
“I don’t know Monty…”
“Come on, (Y/N)…” He begged.
You closed your locker and looked at him trying to keep a straight face. “Strike a home-run tomorrow and I’ll come. Deal?” You extended your hand to him and he took it immediately.
“Deal.”
You started walking away but stopped and turned around to look at him. “Just so you know, Cruz, Jeff will be with me. If you ever strike that home-run of course.” You warned him with a wink and made your way to your first class after the lunch break. He knew Jeff and you held a special friendship mainly because you grew up with each other and also because he was the only one to help you when you were sick.
Friday
Montgomery was one of the best players on Liberty’s baseball team and scoring a home run was not a big deal for him. Indeed, you had no doubt about that. You just wanted to challenge him, let’s say, spice up, a little bit of your relationship. You were on the bleachers, front row with Hannah and Clay on one side, Tony on the other. You did not want to miss a piece of the game but before this, you had to see the cheerleaders dance and more precisely some of them trying to catch your boyfriend’s attention which never happened. “You’re shooting daggers at them,” Tony whispered, amused by your visible jealousy.
“Lucky them they ain’t real…” You growled and crossed your arms over your chest until they were done and left the field. Montgomery shot you a questioning look to which you responded with a soft smile, not wanting to bug him before the game, especially not about something that stupid. It was not the first you would go to a baseball game but it was the first time, you paid attention to someone else than Jeff. The first minutes were a mess. Not a point for Liberty. You shifted uncomfortably, pulling your sleeves as down as you could, nervous. Montgomery’s eyes met yours when he was about to bat. ‘You can do it.’ You mouthed and he did, scoring the first home-run for your team. You literally jumped from your seat, among the other supporters, clapping. All you wanted to do was to cheer him up as loudly as you could but you couldn’t. Frustration was beyond high.
The game was finally over. Liberty won thanks to Jeff and Montgomery. Everyone was yelling their names, you included. “Your two men did amazing but which one needs to be congratulated first?"
"Tony would you please shut up and not make things more complicated for me?” He chuckled and walked away when he saw Montgomery making his way to you through the dense crowd. He rested his arms on the metal railing that separated the bleachers from the field, he was tired you could see it from the look in his eyes and the soft smile on his lips. You hopped from your seat and stood right in front of him. “Two home runs, you really want me to go to that party."
He tilted his head to the side. "Can you blame a man who wants to see his beautiful girlfriend?” You shook your head smiling. He was adorable. Yes, Montgomery de la Cruz was being terribly adorable and at that exact moment, you wished you could kiss him and tell him how much you missed being with him. “So, you’re coming, right?"
Everyone surrounding you was either drunk, flirting/making out, or playing a dumb drinking game. You were sitting with Sheri, talking about your plans for the holidays. Besides the Christmas party that your parents held every single year with Jeff’s family, you were about to have two quiet weeks to get as much work done as possible. "You’re not tutoring Montgomery during the holidays?”
Tutoring wasn’t really what you had planned to do with him. You restrained yourself from smiling like a dumb girl in front of her. “Uh, no, I mean we haven’t talked about it so I guess I won’t have to see him during the holidays too.” You let a nervous laugh escape. Credibility? None but Sheri bought it, with the amount of alcohol she had i-since she got there, even if you told her you were dying to kiss him, she wouldn’t react and probably forget about it the next day. “I’ll be right back.”
“Where are you going?”
“Bathroom, I have needs.” She just started laughing as you walked inside the house, pushing your way through people, mainly drunken boys. You didn’t know where to find a bathroom so you just walked upstairs, opening doors until someone grabbed your arm and pulled you inside a dark room. Your first reaction was to push whoever did this, and whoever it was fell on the floor. You quickly found the switch and flipped it. “Oh shit! Monty!"
Montgomery was on the wooden floor, rubbing the back of his head. "Jesus woman, you nearly killed me!” You got on your knees and helped him sit.
“Well, you nearly gave me a heart attack!” You shot back at him. “Lemme see…” He moved his hand away allowing you to check his head. No blood, thank God but a small bump. You sighed. “You should put some ice on it.”
“Later.” He pulled you on his lap.
“I am sorry, babe.” You apologized cupping his face and pressing your lips on his. He smiled against your mouth and kissed you back. It was magic. Every single time you kissed, it was a pure moment of magic. And every time you kissed, you knew you wouldn’t want anyone else but him. Montgomery de la Cruz. Because every time you kissed, you felt butterflies in your stomach and everything around you seemed to fade away like there were just the two of you left in the world. He moved you closer to him, the innocent apology kisses becoming more intimate. Deeper and more passionate. You didn’t know whether it was a good idea or not, but somehow you gathered enough courage to just push his shirt off of his shoulders and enough more to take off his t-shirt, breaking the kiss for just a few seconds before finding the warmth of his lips back again. Your skater skirt didn’t cover much, giving access to your thighs and butt to your boyfriend.
He eventually pulled away after a minute, out of breath. He just stared at you, hands resting on the floor. “Is that for nearly killing me?” He said with a grin.
“I needed to make sure you’re not mad at me…” You smiled playfully, running your hands on his bare chest.
“I think I’m still a little mad.” You chuckled and took off your own top before you kissed him again. That night you spent together made you feel comfortable around him, enough to be half-naked in front of him. His hands moved to your body, making their way from your exposed thighs to your back. The skin-to-skin contact shot electricity through your body, a new and pleasant feeling. “You’re such a tease, baby girl.” He groaned when you pulled away from him. When he was about to kiss you again, you heard a knock on the door.
“Monty? Are you in there?” Bryce spoke from behind the door. Shit. You were both quickly on your feet, putting your clothes back on.
“What do we do now?” You whispered.
“Yeah, I am here.” He responded to Bryce.
“What the hell?” You whispered yelled at him.
He put his hand on your mouth and pushed you behind the door before he opened it. “I think I drank too much, I just wanted to rest for a bit.”
“You look like shit man…” They walked away from the room. You stood there for a moment, listening to check if no one was there before you got out and downstairs. Your phone buzzed. ‘Don’t think I am done with you, baby girl.’ You grinned. You knew what you had done to him and you knew you would have to finish it very soon.
