“Deadlock! Sannin Showdown!”
“Katsuyu and Gamabunta double-team Manda, though the latter can hold his own. Using her inhuman strength, Tsunade can pin Manda down and deliver a finishing blow to Orochimaru. Deciding to use his last resort to regain the use of his arms, Orochimaru retreats with Kabuto, leaving Tsunade, Jiraiya, Shizune, and Naruto to their own devices. Once Naruto recovers and learns of Tsunade’s acceptance of the Hokage title, he remarks that she is undeserving of the job because the Third was better in every possible way. The two-step outside to have another fight, though this time Tsunade kisses Naruto on the forehead instead of a blow to the face. The group then sets off for Konoha.”

Analysis
The Sannin Showdown has started. There is another reason why they are called the three legendary sannins. It’s because of their ability to summon huge animals. Therefore, this episode will focus more on the summoning animal’s abilities; hence, the episode has a lot of action.
Katsuyu is the slug, Gamabunta is the toad, and Manda is the snake. They are all enormous and are huge pets that the sannin summons when they are in a sticky situation. Therefore, this episode introduces two new characters, Katsuyu, who is female, and Manda, who is male.
Katsuyu and Gamabunta double-team Manda, though the latter can hold his own. Using her inhuman strength, Tsunade can pin Manda down and deliver a finishing blow to Orochimaru. Manda is super strong in terms of strength. Katsuyu, however, is very unique. She can divide herself into, let’s say, a million slugs and then transform into the one slug she was before. Moreover, she also has the healing jutsu, hence why Tsunade asked Katsutya to send a shadow clone of herself to Shizune and Naruto so that she could heal Naruto.
Moreover, Tsunade uses her inhuman strength to pin Manda down using Gamabunta’s sword so that Manda can’t move. Moreover, Tsunade delivers a finishing blow to Orochimaru. In other words, Orochimaru is defeated by Jiraiya and Tsunade. The way I see it, Tsunade contributed more to the fight than Jiraiya, because if she hadn’t used her inhuman strength to defeat Manda, who knows what would have happened? Therefore, Tsunade is one of the most important characters in this episode because she defeated Orochimaru, who posed a huge threat to the Hidden Leaf Village.
Deciding to use his last resort to regain the use of his arms, Orochimaru retreats with Kabuto, leaving Tsunade, Jiraiya, Shizune, and Naruto to their own devices. This just confirms Orochimaru’s defeat.
Once Naruto recovers and learns of Tsunade’s acceptance of the Hokage title, he remarks that she is undeserving of the job because the Third was better in every possible way. Naruto still believes Tsunade doesn’t deserve the title of Tsunade. The way I see it, there seems to be a repetition of this scene. Remember when Naruto and Tsunade first met? They met in the bar, where Naruto said she didn’t deserve the title of Tsunade. Therefore, the audience knows what will happen next, like last time when they stepped outside to fight.
The two-step outside to have another fight, though this time Tsunade kisses Naruto on the forehead instead of a blow to the face. The group then sets off for Konoha. The audience expected that Tsunade would defeat Naruto in the fight. However, there is an element of surprise when Tsunade kisses Naruto on the forehead. This just further proves the notion that Naruto is like a little brother to Tsunade because, in one of the flashbacks she had, she also kissed her little brother Nawaki on the forehead. Therefore, Naruto has become precious to her because, at the end of the episode, she says something about Nawaki, and Dan’s dream of becoming a Hokage continues to live on through Naruto. This just proves why Naruto is the main protagonist; he has changed people’s lives, such as Zabuza, Hinata, Neji, Sakura, and now Tsunade. First, he helped Zabuza realise that he cared about Haku after his death. Second, he helped Hinata find the courage to fight Neji during the Chunin exams. Third, he helped Neji realise that he should follow his destiny rather than the destiny he was given. Fourth, he helped Sakura fight Ino during the Chunin exams when Ino had trapped her with her mind transfer jutsu. If it weren’t for Naruto, Sakura would have been the only one eliminated from the match. Last, he helped Tsunade decide to become the Hokage.
The episode had a happy ending. Tsunade has found peace, and Naruto gets the necklace. It was comic relief after an intense battle with Orochimaru, the main antagonist of the anime series.
