Analysis
As Sasuke and Gaara’s battle gets underway, Kakashi apologises to Sakura for upsetting her by being late. He then told Might Guy that there was a possibility of an attack on the Leaf Village since the ANBU were present at the stadium. This is a foreshadowing of what is going to happen later in the plot. Moreover, Naruto realises how dangerous Gaara is and that Sasuke is the only one who can satisfy his bloodlust right now. Simultaneously, Sasuke starts attacking Gaara quickly enough to go past his shield of sand, which strangely reminds him of Lee’s fighting technique. After witnessing Lee’s taijutsu with his Sharingan previously, Kakashi reveals to Sakura, Naruto, and Guy that they had been practising to achieve the same speed for the past month. Although Guy recognises that speed must have another purpose, Lee is aware from experience that speed alone will not beat Gaara.
Since Sasuke had already copied Lee’s taijutsu skills using his Sharingan, he utilised those skills to fight Gaara. Gaara, on the other hand, is determined to kill Sasuke, which is why he retreats inside a sphere and begins to transform. What is going to happen next? Will Gaara reveal who he is? Why are the people from the Sand Village tense all of a sudden? (This is not mentioned in the summary but is shown in the episode.) We are left with unanswered questions; hence, those rhetorical questions leave us in suspense until the next episode.
