Analysis
Unable to accept Tsunade as her grandfather’s successor, Konohamaru does everything in his power to prevent her inauguration. There is one similarity between Tsunade and Konohamaru. They are both related to the former Hokages. For example, Konohamaru is the grandson of the third Hokage, while Tsunade is the granddaughter of the first Hokage.
The setting takes place in the Hokage’s building, the office. Since Konohamaru is still grieving for his grandfather, he tries to prevent Tsunade’s inauguration because of his fear that people will forget about his grandfather once Tsunade becomes the Hokage. Moreover, Tsunade’s assistants have failed to get Konohamaru out of the office because he used traps, so Naruto tries to get him out of the office, but to no avail.
As Tsunade does research, hoping to increase the chances of Lee surviving the operation, Naruto tries to convince Konohamaru that she will be a good Hokage. From the episode I have seen, this is what happened. Tsunade saw Lee across the bridge and along the river, Lee was feeling hopeless. After witnessing Lee, this compelled her to feel sympathetic about his situation, so she decided to do some research on his operation. Tsunade’s caring nature toward others proves that she will make an exceptional Hokage.
While Naruto was struggling to get into the Hokage’s office, Tsunade arrived and destroyed the traps. She did not even struggle to get into the office because she used her inhuman strength to deflect the traps. Konohamaru is scared, thinking she will beat him up, but instead, Tsunade just picks up a book to research more about Lee’s operation. Tsunade left Naruto to deal with the Konohamaru issue on purpose because she didn’t want to work, as stated by Shizune. Therefore, it means that Naruto wasted his time for nothing.
On the part of Naruto and Konohamaru, the setting takes place at the third Hokage’s grave. This is where Naruto convinces Konohamaru that she will make a good Hokage. Konohamaru’s real reason for not wanting Tsunade to become Hokage is that he was afraid everyone would eventually forget about his grandfather, the third Hokage. Naruto, therefore, suggests they see Tsunade and make her promise that people should never forget about the Third Hokage. Naruto is the type of person who cares about others; hence, he is a round character. After all, he has a close friendship with Konohamaru in the sense that Naruto is the mentor while Konohamaru is the mentee.
After Tsunade demonstrates her strength and healing abilities, Konohamaru decides that Tsunade can be a Hokage and that his grandfather will not fade into memory. This is where the relevance of the title, “The Will of Fire Still Burns!” takes place. After Tsunade takes the book from the Hokage’s office, she goes to a quiet place where she can research and study Lee’s operation. While she does her research, Shizune and the small pig, Tonton, find Tsunade. When they find her, Shizune and the pig are shocked because Tsunade never studies. She just gambles. Moreover, while she did her research, she considered applying new cells to Lee’s body, similar to Kabuto’s abilities. At that moment, there is a big change in Tsunade’s character because she is taking the job of Hokage very seriously.
Meanwhile, Naruto and Konohamaru look for Tsunade, and they find the place she’s at. When they were outside, Konohamaru heard something from Tsunade. Tsunade said these words: “I am the fifth Hokage after all.” Konohamaru then has a flashback about his grandfather, who said something like, “I am the third Hokage after all. Protecting the family is what it means to be a Hokage.” Therefore, the anime reinforces the idea of the will of fire. It’s about protecting something precious to you. In this episode, both Hiruzen Sarutobi and Tsunade have the will of fire to protect the Hidden Leaf Village. Moreover, Konohamaru having this flashback helps him understand the meaning behind those words, “the will of fire,” hence why he accepts Tsunade as being the fifth Hokage. He also believes his grandfather’s memory will not fade because Tsunade is just like his grandfather, the third Hokage.
The episode shows one of the qualities of a good leader, which is caring about others.
