I stood outside behind the school during Power Control class. Me and my other classmates were standing side by side, facing Professor Waker, our Power Control teacher. He was currently going over the basics of Power Control and explaining his class to us. I was standing next to Xander while Xander stood next to Nix. I'm not sure why but I keep seeing Nix sitting and standing next to Xander. I'm not really curious about it so I just leave it alone. Right in the middle of Professor Waker's lecture, I looked over at my class to see a petite, small girl with brown hair raise her hand. Professor Waker looked at her and sighed.
"Yes?" He said.
The girl dropped her hand to her side and smiled. "Will we be getting wands?" She asked.
Then, a few people started to snicker. I looked over at Professor Waker to see that he wasn't happy about the fact that a student asked him such a ridiculous question. I waited to see what his answer is or if he was going to ignore her question altogether.
"No. This isn't Harry Potter." Professor Waker said.
"Yeah. We're not Wizards. We're 'Faeries'." A boy said, air quoting the word Faeries. It's obvious that he's trying to make a joke about us being compared to Wizards in Harry Potter.
Then, everybody started to burst out laughing. All except me, Xander and Nix. I then glanced over at Nix to see her pouting.
"I like Harry Potter..." She mumbled.
I sighed then looked away. I'm ready to hurry up and start with our lessons. I was already nervous about coming to class in the first place.
"If you are all done," Professor Waker said, cutting into all the laughter. Everybody immediately stopped laughing.
"Let's get on with the lesson. First, i'm going to teach you how to let your power come to you. Who would like to start first?" He asked then looked around at all of us.
I quickly stared down at my feet. It's best to not look the teacher in the eye or they would call on you.
"Stiyl. How about you?" Professor Waker said.
Shit, I thought then sighed. I looked at my teacher and hesitated.
"Well? We're waiting."
I slightly gulped then started to step forward when Xander quickly grabbed my arm. I glanced over at him, wondering what he had to say.
"Next time, don't look down at your feet. That's the quickest way to get a teacher to call on you." He whispered then let go of my arm.
I blinked my eyes then nodded. It sorta made sense. Then again, I wasn't sure how teachers operated at this school. I licked my lips then took a few steps forward.
"Hold out your hand." Professor Waker said.
I did as he told as held out my hand.
"Look at your hand and focus."
I nodded then looked at my palm and focused on it.
"Take a few deep breaths."
I started to take a few deep breaths, feeling the tension in my shoulders leave me and my body relax. If I continued this, I might end up falling asleep.
"Now, close your eyes and focus on the energy in your hand."
I nodded then closed my eyes and tried to focus. I waited and waited and waited till I felt something weird in my hand. It felt like strong energy and it was sorta warm. I eventually opened up my eyes and saw a medium sized blue orb hovering over my hand. My eyes started to widen. I couldn't believe I created energy. This is insane! Blue energy, blue necklace, it's all starting to fall together.
I glanced at Professor Waker to see a small smile on his lips.
"Now, try to aim the orb at the dummy."
I looked over at the practice dummy on the field. I nodded then tried to focus on the orb hitting the dummy. I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths then let it go but when I opened up my eyes, nothing happened.
"Focus again."
I nodded then tried to focus so hard on the orb hitting the dummy. I gritted my teeth, feeling a bit frustrated when all of a sudden, the orb shot out of my hand and hit the dummy with a hard thud. The dummy toppled back and so did I when the orb left my hand. I landed on my butt and watched as the dummy eventually caught on blue fire. I sighed as Professor Waker quickly put the fire out with some water.
"Go back to your spot." He said.
I nodded then stood up and walked back over to the group. While I walked back over, I heard a few kids in line snicker under their breath. I sighed again and shook my head. Professor Waker then called on another student.

"How was Power Control class?" Evie asked once we all got together after class.
"It was interesting." Xander said.
"Yeah. Stiyl set the dummy on fire. Blue fire." Nix said.
Gretchen raised her eyebrows. "Blue fire?"
"Yep. He created a blue orb." Xander said.
"Blue fire. Blue orb. Blue necklace. This is all connected." Evie said then turned to me.
"Stiyl, you NEED to ask Juniper about our powers. This is all connected."
I shook my head. "Blue fire. Blue orb. Blue necklace. It's not a big deal. Besides, Juniper told us that we each have a color. Mines just so happened to be blue and everything I create is blue." I explained.
Evie then placed her hands on her hips. "Oh yeah? Were the other kids orbs and fires the same color?"
I scratched the back of my head. "Well...considering that they didn't have necklaces like we do...no."
Evie nodded. "Uh huh. That proves it. You seriously need to ask Juniper."
I looked around at my friends then sighed. "Do I really have to?"
"Yes. This is vital information that we need to know, Stiyl." Gretchen said.
"I agree. How can we control what we have when we don't even know what we have?" Xander said.
Nixie nodded. "I agree."
I shrugged and nodded. "Fine. I'll ask Juniper tonight before bed."
