The Auditorium was really huge. It looked like the auditorium from my school but more magical. I don't know how to explain it. It was also jammed packed with students. I can only imagine that the room is filled with all students from each year. Of course I can't tell because i'm new here so I don't know who's a Freshman or not. I managed to find a seat at the back of the auditorium which is a plus for me because when the time comes to get up and go, I can be the first one to leave and won't have to worry about traffic. I sat down in the seat and faced the front as everybody else were still trying to find seats.
"So, is there students from each year here?" I asked Juniper who decided to plant his small butt on my shoulder.
Juniper shook his head. "Nope. Orientation is only for Freshmen. This gives Headmaster Crier a chance to run through the basics with you guys and explain important stuff." He explained.
I nodded then started to look around the room at each student.
"So, are we getting our schedule and whatever else right now?"
Juniper shook his head again then looked at me. "Stop asking questions, Stiyl. Headmaster would explain everything alright?" He said then turned back to the front. Juniper sounded like he was a bit annoyed with all my asking. Of course I know I should wait till Headmaster Crier explain everything to us but i'm just really anxious. I know before I was really nervous about coming here and leaving mom behind but now i'm really nervous and a bit excited about being here and i'm even more nervous to be meeting my new roommate. I wonder if he's in here right now...
Once everybody found their seats, Headmaster Crier and other adults who looked like teachers, stepped up onto the stage. The Headmaster looked absolutely normal. I kinda expected him to be wearing a robe with a magical hat or something but instead, he was wearing a black suit and I can't tell if he has facial hair or not because i'm sitting so far back but he does indeed have slick black hair. He doesn't even look old.
"Headmaster Crier is...." I started.
Juniper smirked. "Surprised to see that he looks like a completely normal guy like every other teacher?"
I nodded.
"Yeah. I figured. When people hear 'magic school', they automatically think that the Headmaster is going to be super old and wearing some type of get up and the teachers will be wearing cloaks or whatever. Well, you're sadly mistaken. Except, you DO have one teacher that's kinda like that." He explained.
"Really? Who?"
"To the right of Headmaster. The guy wearing all black and a long flowing cape."
I looked at all the teachers till my eyes landed on a guy with a bald head. He was indeed wearing all black and a long flowing cape that reaches the floor.
"Who's he?" I asked.
"That's your Power Control teacher, Professor Waker. He's kinda weird. He has this scar on his left eye. We all assumed that he's been in some type of magic war eons ago and now he's working as a teacher here at Faerie Academy." Juniper explained.
"How is he weird?" I asked.
"He kinda...well, he talks different from anybody else. And he's a little mysterious and intimidating. A few people quit his class last year because they couldn't take being in his class."
I nodded. "Wow. That bad huh?"
Juniper shrugged. "I wouldn't really know. None of my Faerie's had his class."
"Do you think-"
"Shh! Headmaster is about to speak." Juniper cut me off.
I shrugged him off and looked towards the front.
"Welcome everybody to Faerie Academy. I'm Headmaster Crier, the Dean of all Sorcery and Magic. I founded this school eons ago when the Faerie world was in ruins. Most Faeries turned into evil Faeries because they had no complete control. Back when I was your age, I didn't have someone to teach me how to control my powers. I had to learn all on my own. Then, as I got older, I realized that enough is enough. I decided to open up Faerie Academy and allow other Faeries to come in to learn control. I've seen Faeries come and go. Some were able to learn how to control, others couldn't take having such enormous power so they dropped out. I believe in you all. I won't hesitate to help any of you. If you so wish to ask for help from anybody else, feel free to go to your teachers or ask help from the upperclassmen. You also have the choice to ask your own Faerie Helper which was provided to you when you were accepted here. Now, each of you will be provided with a class schedule. Your Faerie Helpers will help with that. You are also required to wear a uniform during school hours."
Instantly, everybody in the auditorium started to groan.
"Now. Now. It's not as bad as you think. I'm not making you wear a robe and a hat or anything. It's just a simple school uniform that humans wear. I'm trying to stay in the same element as you because let's face it, all that stuff is old school news."
Surprisingly, some students actually chuckled at the joke. If any of my teachers back home tried to pull a joke like that, they would only hear cricket sounds instead of laughing sounds from students.
"He's trying to keep everything modern..." I said.
Juniper nodded. "Yup. He feels like students would be less likely to not want to learn if they're forced to wear or do something that's old school magic related."
I nodded. "What about Professor Waker?"
"He's still kinda old school even though he's probably the youngest male teacher here."
I blinked my eyes. "He is?"
Juniper nodded. "I know you can't tell from back here but he's actually really young. I think he's in his mid to late twenties in human age."
"Wow."
"Now, each of you will have a chance to meet your teachers after Orientation. You also will have time to look around and get used to where you're at before dinner time. If you're wanting additional information, ask me, your teachers or even your Faerie Helpers. I hope your stay at Faerie Academy is a wonderful one." Headmaster Crier ended the speech with a smile then he walked away.
Everybody started to get up and leave. Others went up to the teachers and Headmaster to ask questions or to meet them. Me? I'm ready to leave and look around this place. I quickly stood up and headed out of the auditorium.
"Where to now?" Juniper asked.
"I want to see if my new roommate is in our room." I told.
I started to walk back to my dorm room. When i walked inside, there he was and he had a little Faerie Helper with him. My eyes started to scan my roommate from top to bottom before they landed on his face.
So...my roommate is an emo kid? I thought.
