The next morning i got a call from Nadine. She told me to come over immediately. I got dressed and headed out. My mom's car was already gone so I was safe... for now. I got to Nadine's a little while later. I knocked on the door. Nadine answered and pulled me inside the house and to her room.

It was now Monday and I went to get my things from my locker. I walked to Nadine's locker and saw her getting her stuff.
"Hey. So um.. I'm gonna talk to Krista about that thing that happened at the diner after school." Nadine told me.
" Okay... I guess I'll see you tomorrow or later then" I said. The warning bell rang and we went to our separate classes.

"Hi Nick" I replied giving him a small smile.
"So uh... How was the rest of your weekend?" He asked. I was a little bit shocked he asked that. It didn't seem like Nick at all. I guess I didn't know him very well, but still.
"It was alright." I lied and shrugged. "How was yours?"
"Boring as hell. I just worked. It would've been better if I saw your pretty face." He said and smirked at me. I blushed and looked away. I didn't know how to respond to that. Thankfully the bell rang and the teacher got right to work.
As I was writing down notes about the lesson we we're learning a piece of paper landed on my desk. I glanced up and saw Nick looking at me. He nodded to the paper he threw urging me to open and read it.
Wanna hang out tomorrow? I only work for a few hours that day.
Wow. My mind is all over the place right now. I guess I can't comprehend why Nick would wanna hang out with ME. Well, I wasn't gonna question him. I wrote down my answer and handed the paper back to him. I saw him open it and read it. Then he looked at me and smiled. God he was so cute.
After my last class I went to my locker and started packing my stuff up. I saw Krista coming my way.
"Hey" she said. "So I'm guessing you heard?" She asked.
I nodded and said " yeah. I'm not sure about your side of the story, but that was pretty messed up Krista. You know how Nadine feels about her brother. She's probably freaking out inside. You're her best friend and you slept with her brother."
" I know I know. I messed up. I'm so... I'm just confused right now Rose." She told me.
" I still think you shouldn't have done that. I mean I admit I thought Darien was kinda cute too, but come on. It's Nadine's brother. He only cares about himself Krista." I said as I shut my locker.
"I hope you guys can work things out" I said walking away.
I left the school and started walking towards the school gate to start my walk home, when I heard someone calling my name. I turned to look, but didn't see anyone I recognized. I turned back around and came face to face with Nick.
"Whoa. Oh, hey Nick. Um..what's up?" I asked looking at him. I was nervously playing with my backpack strap.
"I saw you walking and wanted to know if you want a ride" he said. He was looking over my face carefully waiting for my answer.
"Oh. Uh....sure, why not." I said biting my lip. He smiled and said cool. Then he started leading me to his car. He opened the door for me and let me in. He got in the car and started it up.
"Rose can I ask you a question?" He asked.
"You just did, but sure" I chuckled. He glanced at me nervously and then looked back to the road.
"What happened to your arms?" He asked. I quickly looked down and pulled my sleeves back down. They must have ridden up on my arms when I put my backpack on.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to yell" I said quietly.
"It's okay" he whispered. It was silent for the rest of the ride. We just listened the radio quietly. As we approached my house I thanked him for the ride. As I went to open the door he stopped me. Again.
"I'll pick you up at 6 tomorrow. Is that okay?" He asked.
"That's fine, but you don't have to pick me up. We can just meet somewhere" I said
"Rose. You don't have a car. I don't...you shouldn't be walking alone at night. I'll come pick you up okay?" He said looking at me. I quietly agreed and told him I'd see him tomorrow at six then. As I was walking to my door I turned around and waved bye to him. My mom's car wasn't here so I assumed she was still at work.
I walked in and saw the place had bottles everywhere. I cleaned everything up and then went to my room. I threw my bag on the ground and jumped on my bed to lay down. I started thinking about Nick. I wondered why he kept talking to me. I doubt he liked me. I couldn't help but get a little excited about tomorrow night. I started looking for something to wear for tomorrow when my phone rang. I picked it up and saw it was Nadine calling.
"Hey Nadine. What's up?" I asked in the phone. She was ranting to me about how Krista and her brother took them to a party. She told me how Krista ditched her to play beer pong with some random people and she went outside and called her mom. I couldn't believe Krista would do this. We've all been friends forever, so it was strange that she'd just ditch Nadine.
"Let's talk to Krista about it tomorrow Nadine. I...I uh also have some news to tell you. It's nothing bad I promise" I said to her.
" What is it?" She asked.
" So....I may have been hanging out with Nick Mossman recently. And he asked me to hang out with him tomorrow." I told her. It was silent for a whole minute before I said " Nadine? Are you still there?"
"Are you fucking with me Rose?" She asked
"What? No! I'd never lie to you Nadine. It's true." I said. It was silent for a moment before I heard her scream in the phone.
"Oh my god Rose! That's awesome. How did this happen? When did this happen? Okay okay tell me later. But Rose. Be careful okay? He did go to juivie before. You don't know what he might do. Promise me you'll be careful?" She asked
" I'll be careful Nadine" I promised her.
"Okay good. Well I should probably go now. I'm gonna call Erwin" she said
" Okay. Have fun Nadine. Don't forget to use protection!" I yelled in the phone and then hung up.
