Once a week,

I pack my life into a backpack.

for my notebooks - I often pack these

alongside my secrets.

I fold my emotions - once, twice,

until they fit underneath my pyjamas.

I take myself apart;

Which is important enough to take?

Which would be better to leave behind?

Is there something too big to fit - there always is,

it's my job to make it smaller.

It's my job to think ahead - will I need my homework-book?

Will I need my thoughts? Did I forget to pack my heart?
