Analysis
This episode revealed more about the Hyuga clan. Although Neji and Hinata are cousins, Neji is heartless. For instance, he makes Hinata feel worthless, trying to convince her to forfeit the match. Therefore, there seems to be bad blood between the two of them. As time goes on, the history of the Hyuga clan will be revealed later on.
Despite Neji’s taunting, Naruto’s cheering influences Hinata to fight against Neji. In the battle, Neji and Hinata both use their clan’s Gentle Fist style, which uses bursts of chakra to damage the opponent’s internal organs. Thus, Naruto plays an important part in this episode. If it weren’t for him, Hinata wouldn’t have been bold enough to fight against Neji. It’s not the first time Naruto has given someone hope. For instance, he gave Sakura hope to fight against Ino. Although they were both eliminated, if it weren’t for Naruto, Sakura would have been the only one eliminated in the match. It is clear that Naruto brings positive energy into everyone’s lives; hence, he is one of the most important characters in the anime. He is like a round character who seems like a real person, giving everyone hope to conquer obstacles.
The lesson from this episode is that we shouldn’t let our fears hinder us from moving forward in life.
