I can’t help but admire it, the way the meat and onions glisten from being cooked in so much fat and the orange sauce slightly dribbles out from it’s place. Unperfect perfection. I look over at the chef, my current partner.

His eyes are locked with mine and I understand what he’s trying to say. He’s pleading, almost begging me to bite into it. I almost give in, but not yet. As much as the burger and him are grabbing my eyes I have to have my fun with this. I know every bite I take will taste better with victory already on my palette.

The aroma has now taken over the air between us. All I can smell is the toasty but sweet bun mixed with a million different flavours within the patty. It’s hard to keep resisting.

Some people think it’s weird that I enjoy making my boyfriend plead but I beg to differ. Seeing a grown man ask me for something so mundane and beg has never brought me more satisfaction. Either way, I’ve made him wait for long enough. Breaking contact with him I look down at the burger between us, either side of us had cutlery neatly set up, but who eats a burger with a fork and knife? Burgers are something you have to eat with your hands, it improves the eating experience completely exactly like what I’m doing.

I grab it and the bread breaks under the weight of my hand, small pieces lift up as I add pressure, flattening the thing, and making it biteable. I lift it up to my mouth and savour this experience.

A moan escapes my mouth as I take the first bite it’s irresistible I would normally stop and savour the flavours but I can’t. Everything dances in harmony, a slight spice from the sauce the tangy yet sweet taste of pickles and the meat. Oh god the meat, it's breathtaking. He hasn’t used beef but a type of pork. Maybe it’s mixed with beef, I don’t know but whatever it is, it’s wonderful. I take bite after bite enjoying everything until there’s nothing left. I’m not even sure how long it takes for me to eat it I just know that this is a taste I would never forget.
