Into the winter cold and grey

Grey as the death we all shall die

Soft and fragile, soft and thin

Like a snowflake in the spring

Little girl, with flaxen hair

Why are you standing in the storm? Come over here, here to me

And I will try to keep you warm

Warm and dry and dry and safe

You’re always welcome in this place

In the shade where we can hide

From the glaring stares outside

The searing sunlight’s blown away

By our quiet whispering

Into the safety of yesterday
