I slipped into the palace into a deathly silence. It was so easy to enter if you knew how. The new Emperor far too trusted in his own protection spells that I studied for years, finding the perfect way to slip through them without the alarm to be heard or for me to be seen. Stepping in the main hall, I postponed admiring the demonic architecture for another time. I was having a precise target, and what I was planning couldn't wait. I was preparing myself from long time for this and I couldn't back off now.
I lifted my eyes from the floor and watched the huge staircase, made from marble. It was a glorious thing for sure, but I sawed this place already in the years when I was young and foolish. Now, they left me cold: because the one that built this place pushed me away for… them. His fucking perfects. Stay calm, Humphrey, I advised myself. It wasn't the smartest thing to get angry now.
I walked carelessly, with silent footsteps, on the main hall, and I stepped behind the impressive stair, finding what I was in need for: the small door, masked in the wall that was going to lead me into the rooms where it was one of my biggest chances to finish what I planned in detail so many years ago. After I unlocked the door, I entered the big room that was leading to another three of them. The problem was that this place was having stronger defenses than it was at the palace entrance, and the bone carpet on the floor was a powerful proof for my words.
A smirk lifted the corner of my mouth. I searched in my pocket and I revealed the pouch that was containing some strands of hair from the only one that was recognized by the damned protection spells. Throwing them on my palm, I clenched my fist and I let the smell of the Demons Emperor to envelop me. Assured that I was having the power to penetrate this sanctuary, I stepped on the bones that crackled under my feet, making an incommode sound which I ignored. I was so close; so close of making my ambition come true.
I opened the door from the right, entering in the dark room, adapting my eyes in less than a second. There was nothing there, besides a sword with a silver blade, and a pedestal made of marble, on top of it being set a purple cushion with golden tassels. But these weren't the things that made me feel the taste of victory. It was the crimson skull settled on the cushion. The empty eyes orbits were glowing in a creepy yellow.
Yes, it was here! Those fearful Demons never set foot here after they sealed the Curses Master. I stepped to the pedestal and I placed my palm on the crimson skull. It was hot at touch. Taking a deep breath, I channeled my power in the incantation words, and I said them with all the force and determination that I was having. My voice was making strange echoes, hitting the walls. The words seemed to enter the skull, dark runes glowing underneath the crimson of the skull.
When I finished the incantation, the seal broke. The skulls eyes orbits lost their glow, the runes were gone, and the skull itself became of a boring color of red, without being animated from the one that was kept inside. A dark mist floated near me and took the form of the Demon sealed long time ago. His crimson eyes looked right into mine and the sword with the silver blade made its way into the stretched palm of the owner; exactly what I needed for.
“Master Zuuka.” I said, full of respect.
“Humphrey” Answered him and vanished.
I knew that he was going to regain his strength after he was sealed for so long. I was going to get back at him later. Putting the skull into a box, that I sealed, I walked out of the palace of the Demons, still carelessly. Now, all that I have to do was to go at the foolish girl that was going to help me with this package. And I knew exactly where I’ll find her.
