A sailor shouted of a storm starboard

Indigo waves crashed into the prow

Threatening to throw them overboard

As it foamed over the bow

Footing was lost on the flooded deck

Two men were swept over the side

With the shudder of the quarterdeck

As something rammed the vessel’s side

A long violet arm slammed aboard

Rosy suckers covering its length

Latching it to the wooden floor

It pulled itself aboard with enormous strength

Tipping the stern underwater with its weight

Another arm shot up and tore through the mainsail

A third grabbed one of the shipmates

The rest could only watch him flail

With a horrific screech the beast released the ship

Slinking back into the stormy waves

Leaving dents on the boards from its grip

And the mast in a condition grave

Beware ye who travel by sea

Of the kraken of Norwegian waters

Or else thy fate will also be

Like these dear sailors slaughtered
