Clouds of billowing smoke --

Of gray ash and black soot --

Of fire erupting like magma-

Arose from the Twins of the World.

Destruction rained down

To the ground from mountains of terror.

Look, watch as they jump!

Look, a flaming body falls!

Look as hundreds of people

Are taken purely because they work

At a beacon of a Nation.

The image of that fireman

Throwing his helmet down

In grief and regret and frustration

Shall forever burn in your mind

All because of the hate of a Nation.

The voices of those brave souls

Who called home before their sacrifice--

Before they brought down the last plane--

Shall forever ring in your ears.

This was not a war on a Nation,

You bastard terrorist,

But a war on People.

A war on the world.

There was no way you were going to win.
