Sometimes the most unexpected things happen at the most unexpected times. I always hated those unexpected things. 729Please respect copyright.PENANAWkvGeke2HZ
Sometimes they're good yeah, other times they force you to make very hard decisions.
My life is full of those unexpected incidents, just when I had decided not to make the first move with any guy ever again, I kept doing that, I also kept liking all the wrong ones.
I regret some of them, while I cherish a few of my failed attempts at love.
These day, I think I have something for Samuel Davies.
Who am I kidding? I am sure I have something for him.
Samuel was visiting the library me and Emma studied in every day. He was reading, sometimes studying, other times he just had his headphones on and looked asleep.
Since I'm already a curious person, I couldn't help but be curious about him. 729Please respect copyright.PENANAQyJpjQKZrR
So I kept coming to the library every day just to see him. Just to see what type of guy he is. Just to see what he's wearing today, and how's his expression today. Eventually I realized I am being too much curious about him, to the point of wanting to know about his personal life.
I had many questions to ask him, many things to know about him.
Like: What is his personality like?
Why does he come to the library every day?
Why does he listen to music in the library?
Does he remember me?
Does he have a girlfriend?
Will he accept me if I ask him out?
At first I thought it's just my insecurities that make me feel nervous, and all sweaty in front of him. But as we spent more time together I realized that I am again in trouble.
I'm having a crush for the fourteenth times in my life, and the guy has to be none other than Sam.
I was still doubting my feelings all these previous days, but I became sure of them today.
Before I talk about what happened today, I think it's safe to say Sam is definitely one of a kind.
He's different and mysterious and just so my type.
Me and Emma were in the library like always, the moment I got into the library I immediately checked the surroundings for Sam. Emma was talking, but I was too busy searching for Sam that I didn't actually hear what she was saying.
There he was.
He was sitting by the window, he seemed too focused on the book he was reading ,with a smile playing on his lips.
Emma seemed like she didn't notice Sam's presence. I immediately took the seat which was facing Sam's. Emma took the other seat and pulled out her books from her large bag.
While I explained the details of Wuthering Heights to Emma, I admit I glanced at Sam now and then.
The first time we met Samuel again was in this library, but every time we came he was too busy that he didn't even notice us coming, more like he didn't even notice anyone. He was too engrossed with his books, and music.
I noticed how his expression changed with each page of the book he read. He smiled, then raised his left eyebrow, he became angry too. Sometimes he even let out a chuckle. He also became sad, as if he is all the characters in the book he's reading.
Emma asked me a question, I answered her and showed her the page in the novel of Wuthering Heights which Catherine died.
She nodded her head and started reading the page, while she did that I looked up but didn't find Sam in his usual place.
"Jessie?" I heard Emma call my name, I stopped looking for Sam and stared at my friend.
"Yeah?" I said.
"What are you looking for?" She asked.
"N-nothing, I was just deep in thought" I answered after smiling at her, trying my best to act and be casual.
"Are you sure? You act strangely these days, is there something wrong?" She asked, her voice full of concern.
I swallowed and managed to act normally " I'm alright, just stressing about exam you know"
Plus Samuel Davies. I added mentally.
Emma's expression softened then she grabbed my hands and held them in her hands over the books we were reading.
"Don't worry, you're smart. You will do great" She said cheerfully, I smiled at her and nodded my head.
"Alright let's go on" She said.
"Yeah..." I mumbled, and turned the page.
"So-" I begun, but I felt someone standing right beside me, I looked up to find Sam grinning at us both. My eyes widened but I soon recovered and looked away from him to hide my embarrassment at gawking at him like that.
"How are you doing?" He asked, since I was too nervous and my mind was in chaos, I couldn't even utter a word, Emma was the one who replied.
"We're good, thank you Sam" She said and smiled politely at him, he smiled back then he turned towards me.
"So you're the smart one?" He asked.
Is he talking to me?
I felt Emma's eyes on me, so I controlled my emotions and looked at Sam with a polite smile.
"I don't think I'm smart, it's just that My friend needs help and I'm helping her out" I managed to say, my voice surprisingly sounding strong, Sam nodded his head in approval and... respect?
"She's the smart one actually" Emma mumbled, she seemed embarrassed to say that herself.
But speaking theoretically , Emma has a brain too, she just doesn't know how to use it.
"I knew it!" Sam exclaimed. And I felt butterflies in my stomach.
"Do you come here often?" I surprise myself by having the courage to ask him questions.
"Yeah, I come here everyday" Sam admitted and scratched the back of his neck.
"You must like reading books" Emma said thoughtfully, Sam's smile widened and he nodded his head.
"Yes, very much." Sam said.
"Do you want to be an editor?" I asked.
"Not really" Sam shook his head " I like to be an author, but haven't found the right inspiration"
"You mean the right genre" I corrected.
"Exactly!" Sam said, giving me a thumps up.
I heard Emma mutter something under her breath which seemed like ' nerds' but me and Sam ignored her.
I was grinning from ear to ear, when I suddenly realized me and Sam were staring at each other for a while.
I looked away slowly, and felt my heartbeat beat thousand times faster than normal.
"Sam I heard from some of my friends that you're pretty smart, can you give us your phone number so that we can ask you questions when we needed to?" Emma asked.
"Of course!" He said, and we both wrote down our numbers for him, he too wrote his number on a piece of paper and gave it to us.
"Thank you very much" Emma said.
"Thank you" I mumbled.
"You're welcome ladies" Sam said, then he bit his lips as he stared at his watch on his wrist "Now if you'll excuse me I have somewhere to be"
"Sure!" Emma said, smiling warmly at him.
"Bye" Sam said and walked away from us.
"He's such a dickhead" Emma said, just as Sam was gone. I furrowed my brows and stared at her. "Why are you staring at me like that?"
"Why do you say that?" I asked.
"Because he's a dickhead!" She exclaimed, I frowned and sighed. Not being able to understand what has made her think poorly of Sam.
"Why?" I asked, she rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over chest.
"It's just a feeling, I don't like him, I think he's .... too proud, and weird" she answered.
"Oh." I mumbled and didn't bring up the subject of Sam again the entire afternoon.
Emma has this weird habit; When she gets extra nice to people, that actually means she doesn't like them at all.
Maybe it's the same case for Sam, that's why she asked for his number. She pretended to be kind.
That devil girl.
Anyway.
After today, many things became clearer to me; Firstly, I'm now sure of my feelings for Samuel Davies. I have something for him. It may not be love yet, but if we become closer and I get to know him more, then I'm sure my feelings will grow.
Secondly, my feelings for Sam have to be kept a secret from both of my friends, since I need more time to figure out what to do.
