WILLIAM
Agonizing pain snakes through my blood as Ariana’s mark on my neck pulses synchronizing with her shaky breadths.
“No... no...no!” I keep on chanting, this can’t happen... this can’t. I can’t lose her. My wolf aches to be freed, so that he can save her, but as I lift her with my shaking arms, I can’t bear to tell him that there may not be any saving to do.
My eyes find Andria’s, and my need to see her dead amplified the second I see the look of victory on her face. How dare she?
I’m about to lash out at her when I hear Ariana’s whimper resonate against my chest, which takes all my attention away from Andria. My heart almost stops as I see her blood penetrate through my shirt. The scent of her dying body is thick in the air as my wolf takes over my whole being. My feet begin to move before I can even comprehend the fact that I may lose my beautiful mate forever. My wolf howls in my head at the thought, my heart aching and eyes watering as I run with Ariana in my arms to the medical wing.
From the corner of my eyes, I spot my little brother following, his footsteps as hurried as mine as we run across the hallways, everything around us a blur of nothingness till we reach the wing.“Christopher!” My voice comes out hoarse as I call for the healer.
He comes racing towards us, his eyes frantic as they see a bleeding Ariana in my arms, "I need you to heal her. I need you to make the bleeding stop.”
He pushes the doors to a suite open, a bed in the center where I gently lay Ariana. Her eyes are now closed, and her skin feels much colder than what it had a minute before. I step back as Christopher begins to peel her clothes off to see the wound.
I reach for Ariana’s mark on my neck. The dented skin of the mark and her slow heartbeat beat my only hope that she survives.
Christopher begins to take out his healing tools and herbs. His tools almost have my eyes bulging out of their sockets. They could do more harm than good to my sweet mate.
" Those... you’re going to use those on her?” I ask, not believing what I was seeing.
“Yes... we will need these, especially because the wound is so close to her heart.” His voice is calm even though his actions are frantic as he finds a way to reduce her bleeding.
I pace around the room, my body beginning to break out into a sweat as my wolf maddens in my mind over our mate’s pain and wound. At some point, Edward had come into the room and forced me out because Christopher had complained that my pacing was distracting.
I huff as my knees buckle, making me fall to the ground, the pain in my chest getting worse by the second. My vision blurs for a few seconds before it returns, and all I can hear is ringing in my ears. Something is wrong.
Edward tries to say something to me, but I can’t hear him. I can only read his fearful expression. His movements become frantic as I get up from the floor, my stomach twisting with unease as I start to make my way back to Ariana. My wolf and I were too anxious to be waiting around doing nothing.
I’m about to open the door to the room when Christopher, on the other side, opens it. His face seems as pale as chalk, and his arms and hands are covered in blood, making my wolf let out a threatening growl as I push past him to where Ariana is.
My feet barely touch the ground when I notice that Ariana’s heartbeat has become even more faint than it was before. I could barely hear it.
I am by her side in seconds, Christopher on my tail. I grab her hand. It’s cold and turning into a dark shade of blue with every passing second.
“Your majesty, I can’t... we can’t save her...” Christopher stutters out, his fear of my reaction obvious as my neck snaps towards him, and I take slow, predatory steps toward him.
Before I know it my hand is around his neck, and I am hissing out through clenched teeth, “You dare say that again, and I will make sure you die with her.”
He swallows hard at the threat, his body trembling, “Save her. She is your Queen.”
His eyes widen at my words, his wolf probably making him aware of the importance of his duty. I let go of him, letting him run to Ariana, to do everything he could do to save her.
I pace around the room as he tries to revive her. Edward tries to take me away to make me take a bath and change clothes, but this time I don’t go, instead deciding to plop down on the sofa in the room. My leg impatiently moving up and down as I wait for Christopher to finish.
It takes about four hours for Christopher to get back to me and a lot of self-discipline to stay where I’m rooted, “I closed the wound. She should heal with time." At hearing his words, I step closer to Ariana’s sleeping form and brush my lips with her temple before leaving the room to let her rest.
