My boss read through the article and looked up with a deadly stare on his face.

He arched an eyebrow almost to ask as if I was really serious about this, as if it was all a prank. I almost stopped breathing.

And then he clicked his fingers and pointed at the door.

I think he went against his will and published my article anyway. Antonio pointed it out when we were passing the newspaper stall one day in December.

He stopped dead in his tracks and peered at the shop window.

"What?"

He grinned.

"Haha... Darren! Your name is in the newspaper!"

"Hmm?"

I stared.

"I... don't..."

"There! See? 'Article by Darren Osbourne'!"

"Oh..."

The words took a while to form in my head and make a sentence, but by the time I realised what he had just said, he had already dashed in to buy a copy.

He stared at the paper intently for a couple of moments before looking up at me. His face flushed red.

"You... really wrote this?"

I couldn't help but turn red too.

"Umm... yes..."

"Haha... You're a good writer."

"Not for any longer, though."

"Huh?"

"Ahah... I lost my job."

"Oh."
