I smiled and tilted my head as I replied, "The weather’s terrible, so the company closed early. I should’ve sent you a message—didn’t you get it?" Nora blinked and softly said, "I was just in the shower, I haven’t had a chance to check my phone yet." She walked lightly toward me, stood on her tiptoe’s, and gently kissed my cheek, her smile as warm as a spring breeze. "Welcome back! There’s still some time before dinner—do you want to relax in your room for a bit?"

Since we had some time, I suggested taking a tour of her room. Nora seemed a bit embarrassed but still led me upstairs. She opened the door and said, "It’s a bit messy..." Clothes and accessories were scattered everywhere, and she quickly tidied up a bit, letting me sit on a chair while she half-lay on the bed. I picked up a hairdryer and offered to dry her hair for her. The noise of the dryer made conversation impossible, so I quietly observed her room, noticing the cat food and water in the corner, along with scattered cat toys mixed in with her clothes.

Once her hair was dry, I started talking about her cat. She listened quietly, then suddenly interrupted, "You seem to care a lot about that cat." I smiled and nodded. "Well, it’s your cat, so of course, I want to get along with it. Plus, it’s pretty fond of me too—it’s really cute!" After saying that, I suddenly remembered her condition last night and asked with concern, "Are you still feeling unwell? Do you want me to grab some snacks or a hot drink for you?" I stood up, ready to head out for food, but she gently tugged at the corner of my shirt.

I turned around to look at her, only to see her gazing up at me, her cheeks flushed as red as ripe apples. Every time we made eye contact, her eyes were always so captivating. I really loved her eyes, full of mystery, curiosity, and hesitation. Finally, as if she had made up her mind, she softly asked, "Do you believe that I’m actually that little cat?"

Her words left me utterly confused. "What are you talking about..." But the next second, a thick cloud of smoke suddenly rose from around her, enveloping her in it. Panicked, I tried to wave away the smoke and called her name, "Nora?!" But there was no response. I rushed to the window and opened it, letting the smoke disperse with the wind. As it cleared, I heard a "meow."

I turned around, and Nora was gone! In her place was the small cat I had seen the previous night. It meowed at me, its soft paws stepping on the clothes Nora had been wearing just moments ago.

A cat? Where did Nora go? What just happened?! My mind was a whirlwind of confusion. The smoke had distracted me, but now I remembered clearly the last thing Nora had asked before she disappeared, "Do you believe that I’m actually that little cat?"
