like the poets love the moon

forget that I need you here

and stop praying that it happens soon.

'cause you make me think

and on some days you make me loon.

I want to learn to love you

like a flower needs to bloom

to take all of my despair

and turn it into something beautiful.

'Cause I want to learn to love you

just like you were a code

where when certain rules are applied

one could defeat the unknown.

I want to learn to love you

from the depths of my soul

forget my self destructing self

and admit that I am whole.

Oh I only ever loved you like you were a school essay

when I was too afraid and I couldn't focus on the pages

because I knew it was easy and I could have been great at it

but something painful from my past simply wouldn't let me.

I want to learn to love you

like the poets love the moon

to take all of my despair

and turn it into something beautiful.
