Ahead lay a golden ocean. Beyond were lush trees and beyond them I could see the meadows and mountains. One couldn’t grasp the word to describe this moment. Movement to my right ruined it. Silver flashed before my face. I fell hard tripping on my dresses long skirt. My head. I had to protect my head. My hands flew up and the blade scarred them. I didn’t die. I didn’t know why but I was to busy trying to get up without ruining my dress. It was new so mother wouldn’t be happy. Mother! Mother would help. I ran to her but all she did was hand me a seedling which grew in my hands. It was a tomato plant but it had no color. Not green or red. I picked the large tomato and my blood colored it red. I dropped the tomato. It splattered all of the dining room and stained my dress with its bloody color. I had to escape. I couldn’t be caught. My parents would punish me. I ran to the woods behind our house. There I saw my old cat. The one that disappeared. I didn’t plan on losing him again so I tried picking him up but it was like trying to hold water. His eyes looked panicked like mine and it was as if he decided his last kind act toward me. He rubbed his furry coat against my dress cleaning it. When I looked for him to thank him he was gone. Again, he disappeared twice. I had to escape. My feet felt like they were running but my body felt stuck. Somehow I ended up at the barn petting horses. Than an thought came to me. I should collect eggs for breakfast. For some reason going to the house from the barn was like walking through waist deep sand that stung with every move I made. By the time I got to the house the eggs were rotten. Suddenly cries filled my head making my pain both physical and mental. My new born siblings just wouldn’t stop. I knew thy were twins but why was their crying in sync. I needed to sit down but the chairs all had spikes so I sat on the ice like floor. A knock on the door announced the arrival of an over esteemed knight. One that paraded around my paralyzed body and made undecipherable noise. I wish mother didn’t take so long to get him out of the house. Than dinner came and they sat on the chairs as if the spikes didn’t exist. It was probably my imagination. I got up and sat down but I felt the spikes. How was everyone else laughing and when did my siblings get so old? The table felt devastated yet everything else seemed joyful. I couldn’t tell what was wrong with me until a persistent knock arrived. The walls were squeezing me. Any more and they would crush every bone in my body. Was father opening the door? Please don’t. Something’s not right. My voice won’t work. 14Please respect copyright.PENANAwJqbXhfwG0

“Goodbye” “We’ll miss you” “I love you” “Take care” “Be safe” “Write to us” Ate don’t forget us” “We love you very much” Warmth enclosed me and I felt them. My family. Laughter, joy, singing, music, fluffy pillows, food prepared with love, conversations. I felt it all. All their love. All their care. All my memories of them. Then I suffocated.14Please respect copyright.PENANAsYlhFYAGLn
I was drowning in my tears. My eyes burned and stung. If I had almost died while I was sleeping I’d say my life flashed before my eyes.
A soft tapping was at the door. Bet that’s what woke me up. I ground my teeth. Those memories they weren’t the best but I wished I could’ve slept on.
” Princess, we’ve arrived at Ilaidel’s main island.”
