I was born in July

it came as no surprise

that it was the fourteenth

I'm revolution and dreams

it was the year ninety-six

'cause I'm contradictory.

The days were long

the skies were blue

I looked so happy but deep down I knew

that we would have to face adulthood

and what it would turn us into.

I could never comprehend

how I could play knowing that when

I grew up I would regret

all the time wasted in that

so I read all that I could

and I wouldn't miss a day of school

I really liked it though, after all

I was more of a soldier than a girl.

And do you know where this has lead me?

now I'm playing constantly.

I'm torn apart,

I'm half head, half heart

I never felt like I was good enough

all the angels fell to Earth when I got sick of looking up

sometimes the devil leads me to think that I never gave a fuck.

But everybody knows it is not true

I wish I could recall this kid I knew

I keep dreaming I've got to save him and there's nothing I can do

I swear I'll do, shouting out loud something true:

I'll die for you, I'll die for you

I'll die with you.

Now the days are blue

and the skies are long

they're too wide to explore

and reach the stars

and deep down I knew it all along.
