Ariana
Sisily starts a fire as we camp near a stream of water for the night. She's been relatively quiet for most of our journey. Only speaking to me whenever deemed necessary by her. I have tried asking her multiple times where she is taking me, but she never replies. Choosing to ignore me instead of answering me.
It's getting frustrating now because all I can do is assume the worst from her silence. How am I supposed to trust someone who wouldn't even answer my damned questions?
I look around the fire to find a spot that is relatively clean and furthest away from Sisily. The last thing I want to do is sleep near her and allow her to kill me in my sleep. I may have to rely on her to get away from the palace and Will, but I will be damned if I say I am going to trust her more than necessary. For all I know she may just be taking me to my doom.
She is hiding something from me. I can see it in her eyes, the way she keenly watches me as I find a good spot near an oak tree for the night. I lean against the thick tree to watch the night sky. The mountains are deafeningly quiet, the stream being the only sound I can hear. The sky seems to be my only company for the night.
I sigh when I feel Sisily's eyes on me.
"It won't hurt you to look away for a second," I say, my distaste at her clear in my voice.I spot her from the corner of my eye moving closer to where I am before sitting down next to me on the grass. I close my eyes for a moment, hoping that she will be gone when I open them, but she's still there. Her big eyes blinked at me slowly.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I ask Sisily, irritation in my voice.
My question is followed by a long moment of silence, before she decides to answer, "You are strange. I didn't believe him when he told me about you, but I'm starting to see what he meant." I narrow my eyes at her, confused about what she meant. She knew things that could mean trouble, especially since she was talking about this mystery man.
For all I know she could be referring to the king and planning on selling me to him the second he puts a hefty ransom over my head.
The thought of being back at the palace has my heart squeezing and bile rising in my throat as I dry heave and empty the contents of my empty stomach.
I feel Sisily crouch down next to me, a flask of water in her hands, which she gives to me. I take a small sip, making sure it is not poisoned, before gulping it down.
The cold water seems to put some life in my dry throat. It tastes wonderful, and my insides are thankful for the liquid after being deprived of it for so long.
"Who are you talking about?" I ask, and I expect to receive a lie, but that's not what I get back.
"The Prince."
Fear renders me speechless. She meant to sell me back to the royal family. I was mad for not jumping out of the cart when I had the opportunity to do so.
I sit quietly, contemplating what to do. It was obvious I had to escape, but where would I go? Father will never welcome me back home unless I go to Nate.
"Do you plan on giving me to him?" my anger rises as I stand, there was no way on Earth I was going to go anywhere with her if she was just going to push me into more problems.
"Yes....but I promise you he won't ever hurt you the way his brother has."
